Last night I got off work and went to see the new Bond, which I had been dying to see, with a newish friend. It was in Time Square, which means I got to navigate a little bit of the madness that exist there. (Think of the Mall of America. With giant lights. Outside. But different.)
After the movie, we went to "his" bar on 50th street, an place run by the Irish, but not Irish themed. It is a character bar. Besides talking to the Irish bartenders, I met Joey Keys, a local piano player, a cougar, and a stagehand for SNL who told story about holding up drug dealers with his dad's police badge and gun. All while getting free drinks. Have I mentioned that it's in Hells Kitchen? Sure, the neighborhood is basically delightful now, but that does no detract from its wonderful name and the fact that I expect to see Daredevil.
Then, after a shorter than expected train ride, I get home to a clean apartment smelling of newly baked Cherry Pie and a note from my roommate telling me to dig in and that he made me extra pastry with cinnamon sugar on it.
What I am saying is that life is pretty darn good at the moment.
